The design team at Studio Illumine, led by Design Director Azlan Nazam and Lighting Designer Kozen Zhang, aimed to produce an elegant and premium working area while incorporating the necessary practical elements of a productive environment. The challenge was to find the perfect balance between effective mood lighting and soft diffused lighting.
The lighting fixtures were strategically placed to avoid glare and provide good visual comfort. Indirect lighting played a crucial role in the design, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The meeting room featured the iGuzzini Laser Blade system, while the conference room showcased pendants from Millelumen. Lightyears desk pendants, Waldmann enclosed office pendants, Forma Lighting circulation downlights, and FLOS reception standing lamps completed the lighting ensemble.
One of the key features of the International Management Consultant office is the lighting control system that allows for multiple lighting scenes. This enables various lighting setups for meetings, video conferencing, and presentations, enhancing the functionality of the space.
The project, which started in 2015 and concluded at the end of 2016, was located in Shanghai. The design team conducted extensive research to ensure optimal lighting conditions for the workstations, controlling glare and avoiding undesirable reflections on monitors. By calculating light levels and testing the placement of lighting fixtures, the team achieved their goal.
The project presented several challenges, with the main one being the concealment of lighting fixtures within coves, suspended troffers, and ceiling louvers. The team had to strike a balance between light levels and energy consumption, ensuring that the facility operated efficiently. Thanks to the well-programmed lighting control system, the energy consumption of the entire facility is low, making a significant contribution to the environment.
The International Management Consultant office design stands out as a unique blend of hospitality and office lighting. From the main reception and client lounge spaces to the meeting rooms and open offices, the lighting application strikes the perfect balance between dramatic mood lighting and soft diffused lighting, creating a working space unlike any other.
This exceptional design was recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category in 2017. The award celebrates designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
